Jaded Man x Curly Fry Is Bringing Retro Back

On 12th May, it was announced via Jaded Man’s Instagram account that there would be a collaboration between themselves and very popular fashion influencer Curly Fry, aka @curlyfrysfeed. Heavily inspired by 70s style, the release of this collection reveals a laid-back, fun approach to fashion, blurring the lines between menswear and womenswear and promoting self-love.

Indeed, pastel colour palettes dominate retro-inspired garments which exude confident, happy and slightly psychedelic vibes. In a series of adverts and promotional material, we are treated to models dancing in oversized sunglasses and colourful accessories filled with patterns and designs. Moving away from previous trends of muted, neutral colour tones, this collection pushes a bolder agenda and spreads a message of self-love and appreciation – a refreshing change, considering that, outside of luxury fashion, there are not many labels producing garments that favour pattern and colour in this way.

Moreover, this collection promotes handmade products from independent, UK-based designers such as Emilie Flora and Baby Shroom – a move that is more important than ever given the impact of the pandemic on small businesses. It also features highly versatile tailoring with the potential to be worn by many. Recent trends in genderless clothing on the runway have by now trickled down to ready-to-wear and digital collections, but for Jaded Man, this is no new concept. Most, if not all, of the brand’s products can be worn by all genders, including a unisex edit called ‘neutrals’ for those searching specifically for genderless apparel. This collaboration falls under both categories, and marketing has included features with both male and female models.
