Alex Consani is Terrorising The Fashion Industry

Maybe you know her from endlessly scrolling on TikTok or buying from the various Depop drops she has hosted online. Maybe you know her late in the game, seeing her on the runway in some of the best clothing from collections at all the most infamous luxury brands. Alex Consani is everywhere and anywhere fashion is, and we are completely obsessed with her run to fame and fashion.

For Fall/Winter 2023, Consani has been running everyones garments — to name a few, she was seen in Alexander McQueen, Nina Ricci, Chloe, Missoni, Ferragamo, Moschino, Andreadamo, Conner Ives, Thom Browne, AREA, Rodarte, Dion Lee and more, with this not being the first time that she has dominated the scene. But what has made her journey so successful? From jumping to over 888,000 followers on TikTok with over 69 million likes, her content has changed significantly from candid comedy to runway succession. She has amplified her story to one of self-confidence and fashion entrepreneurship. So what has been her antidote to dominating the fashion industry?

Apart from the fact that Consani has been hilarious in her rise on TikTok, she has stayed true to her personality while amassing a huge following since her runway debut. Labelled as the queen of Gen-Z, she has incorporated her humour and perspectives of fashion with luxury fashion staples that have previously struggled to see the new wave of consumerism. Fans of fashion now relate to her digital-isms of humour, seeing relatability in someone who has rose to fame in such a quick but natural manner. Being able to see how she has grown naturally in fashion has made her fanbase more sentimental to her success as a social media influencer and as a model.

On top of that, Consani has stayed gracious in her popularity, showcasing her gratitude to her oppoturnities as a way of amplifying dis-enfranchised voices in the industry; “As a young trans girl, I always saw the lack of representation and wanted to fill the void.” Consani says in an interview with Vogue. “[I wanted to] show other trans and non-binary people that it is beautiful to be trans.” For trans people, being able to see true representation and how they have been opened up to the industry has been warming for those who want to follow a similar path. For generations, we have been told that conventional beauty is the only placement for those who seek a career into modelling, with conventional beauty usually being intricately connected as straight and cis-gendered. Add the complexities of trans-presenting and non-presenting ideologies of identity and suddenly the community is put under the rug. With Consani being open about her trans identity and her advocacy for non-binary people, she has created a statement on the ideologies of cisgenderism for the industry and how times have shifted for those specific individuals.

More-over, the fact that she is not from the nepotism colony of models adds to her appeal. Consani hasn’t shied away from wearing regular everyday garments when it comes to posting her content online. The way that she relates to her fans on a day-to-day basis makes people feel connected. With most of the viewers on TikTok being impressionable teens, gives them a safe space when it comes to digesting content from the industry.

Influenced by the early 2000’s with mini skirts, Y2K scarf tops and shield shades, Consani has showed that you can be confident in any scenario if you come with the right attitude. Not afraid to make a fool out of herself for her fans, she will not hesitant to terrorise the citizens of the biggest fashion capitals. Juxtapose that content with the runway snippets she posts, showcases a brilliant example of looking and feeling good. Caring about what other people think is so ‘10s anyway.

We are all excited to see what the next step is for Consani when it comes to elevation and popularity. She is an example of how grinding and being true to yourself can create success in such a multi-faceted way that reflects on todays generation of consumerism. We look forward to what’s next.
